What Do They Represent & Symbolize?
Their shape and form has not happened by accident as you will find that wreaths commonly are made from evergreens - a symbol for the strength of life. The plants used here - bay laurel, pine, holly, yew and cedar - are strong enough to survive the coldest winters which is why many choose to buy one at Christmas. These evergreens are deliberately chosen by virtue of their symbolic strength and healing characteristics.
The circular nature of most wreaths symbolizes immortality and eternity which is why they are a popular casket adornment at funerals. They are almost the perfect way of saying goodbye.
