Funeral Wreath Design Ideas

A funeral is one of the saddest occasions imaginable; however, it still provides an opportunity to use your creativity to express your feelings about the deceased and show sympathy to his family. With these simple steps, you can create a funeral wreath that shows how much you care and brings solace to the loved ones of the deceased.

Choice of flowers

If you know what type of flowers the deceased or his loved ones liked the best, you can use those. However, if you do not have this information, you can use some of the more common flowers at funerals, such as roses, lilies and chrysanthemums. White is a popular color because it is a symbol of innocence, while black is a symbol of morbidity and death.

Arranging the flowers

You can arrange the flowers in several different shapes, such as a heart or a cross; the latter is only appropriate at Christian funerals. These shapes are available ready-made at several floral shops; you can put the flowers in them one at a time. If neither of these are to your liking, you can use a simple round wreath. A good way to accent the piece is with a banner across the center that says something like "rest in peace," "ave atque vale" or "fond remembrances."

A funeral represents a transition from life to death and provides friends and family of the deceased with a way to say goodbye and give closure to the tragedy and reality of death. A funeral wreath is one way to express your feelings about the deceased and to express your creative side as well.
